SF Underground Short Film Festival selections announced

October 8, 2004  |  Past Projects, Will  |  No Comments

The selection committee for the Semi-Annual San Francisco Underground Short Film Festival yesterday announced the film selections for its upcoming November 13, 2004 festival. We regret to announce that ELMAfilms’ entry “Will” was not selected to debut at the event.

In an email to all entrants, event coordinators did state “Some of the films that were not chosen for the November ’04 program will be shown in an upcoming 2005 program.” The email went on to state that due to the number of entries, the organizers are also considering “doing a big winter show with multiple programs at an alternative venue.”

While we are disappointed that “Will” was not chosen for the November 13, 2004 festival, we at ELMAfilms are fervent supporters of the SF Underground Short Film Festival and its mission to showcase Bay Area independent films. Furthermore, we are hopeful that “Will” will be chosen to appear in either the winter show or the 2005 festival.

We are still actively working on a trailer for “Will.” In addition, we are exploring other venues for showing the film including the Atom Films website and other local and statewide festivals.

Final cut of "Will" completed

October 2, 2004  |  Past Projects, Will  |  No Comments

We are pleased to announce that the final cut of "Will" has been completed and is in the hands of the judging committee of the San Francisco Underground Film Festival. We expect to have a decision regarding our entry in the next two weeks or so and will post the decision here.

So what is next on the "Will" timeline?

First, the collaterals are being created. They will take the form of postcards that can be distributed at the Festival. They may also be used as direct mail pieces to generate interest in the film and the Festival.

Second is the trailer. Our intrepid editor is working diligently on a trailer that will be posted here and will also be shown at the October meeting of the Mac Filmmakers Group in Cupertino. Since it’s all about buzz, we definitely want to create a "Will" legend that impels people to want to see the film.

Music to your ears!

Since we submitted the rough cut of “Will” to the San Francisco Underground Film Festival our composer Ed Bauman has been hard at work on the score. It’s amazing to see how well his music breathes life into the film and gives it a texture we didn’t know it had.

Now, for your listening pleasure, the opening score of “Will.”

After months of pre-planning, hours of filming, yet more hours of editing and at least 2 big bottles of Tums, I am pleased to announce that DHL, this day, has picked up a very-close-to-being-finished roughcut of “Will,” to be delivered to the review board of the San Francisco Underground Film Festival tomorrow (Friday).

To all who participated in the making of this film, we are confident that you will be happy with the finished product.

Mark your calendars for November 13, 2004, as that is the date of the Festival. Should we be accepted, we will notify everyone – we hope to have a strong showing.
